Catch Up
Seems I've let too much time elapse again... darn it all. I wanted to be so good about keeping up to date. Sorry I've let it slide. So this post may be a bit longer then normal. There's a lot to catch up on.
First off. At the beginning of the month we took a nice long road trip to New Jersey to visit your Uncle Jesse, Aunt Deb, Alex, Tristan and BugaBoo (aka Danica). It was 11 long hours in the car ... you did alright actually. Better then i thought. A melt down around your nap time and a bit fussy towards the end - but we were all ready by that point to be done and out of the van! Poppy, Nanny, myself and you all tracked across the Eastern Side of the USA together, stopping (i think) 3 times.
We spent the first evening just getting acquainted with one another again. But had a fun filled weekend - Saturday morning Alex had ball practice and was thrilled to have us tag along and watch. You took this opportunity to try out dirt all it had to offer. This from the kid who when at home, won't play with his dump truck of dirt cuz his hands got messy. :) ha! it was hilarious to watch. You were all about it there tho... laying it, stomping in it, climbing up anything dirty and muddy, raking your fingers thru it... you were FILTHY when we left. I had to do a quick sponge down when we got to the car cuz we were all going out to eat afterwards. Way to keep this momma on her toes!
BugaBoo just LOVED you.... and you LOVED her! It was sweet to see you guys interact with one another all weekend.
Here's your dirty little face ... so happy to be exploring the DIRT! This picture doesn't do any justice tho. You can't see all the filth and dirt ALL over you. :)
The rest of the weekend was relaxed and had lots of play time in it. We let Poppy stay home with the nappers Saturday while we went thrift store shopping then had a fun evening outside. The weather was amazing and warm! Just beautiful! And you loved having outdoor play company. :) And even when you didn't... it was good to teach you about sharing.
Leaving was tough. You got along with your cousins so well and loved Uncle Jesse and Aunt Debbie. I had a hard time pulling you guys apart Sunday night at bed time. Not knowing exactly when we'll see them all again. But it had to be done. And we left for home very early Monday morning... but on the up side; you were SO exhausted from the constant play and interaction you slept a lot on the way home. And weren't as fussy until the last hour. :) Thanks for being a good traveler!!!
You loved the rest stops - a chase to get out and walk, run, and explore. Altho, you were so busy playing and running you wanted little to do with food. :)
Let me tell you tho, after a long weekend away from home, we were ready to be back into a routine and in our own home. :) Sleeping wasn't good while there, but we made due. And Daddy missed us LIKE CRAZY!! He was SO happy to come home to us Monday evening. You were already in bed, but he went right in anyways and had to see his little man.
Our weekends have been kinda empty recently so we've been spending lots of time together before the summer, busy season picks up and keeps us going, going, going. :) You really loved Family Movie night. We made up the air mattress in the living room and let you stay up late with us while we watched Monster's Inc. I made popcorn, but you weren't real into that, and we got about a 75% of it in before you decided it was time for real bed. And you did too ... you got up and got a bit whiny and when i told you it was time to sit or go to bed, you chose bed. Walked into your room, pointed to your crib and signed please. So we called it a night. You did wonderful!
It's been unseasonably warm this March - which are not complaining about at all! We loved it! So much time outdoors. You got a small taste of what summer is like (80 degree days, sunshine, bugs, green grass, etc) and now that it's getting back to normal, kinda chilly, rainy, and windy - you are just aching to go back outdoors!! So i know this summer we'll be out a LOT and on rainy days we'll keep you busy with projects, museum trips, and whatever else I can pull out of my sleeve. :)
Your favorite game is "catch" with daddy. Really right now it's just you running around with the football and occasionally and randomly throwing it towards Dad. But he loves it and goes right along with it. And will pick it up and throw it back to you. It's so fun to watch you and Dad interact. :)
It's getting harder to get you to take a picture tho! You're just too active and want to GO! :) So we take what we get - and I try to be patient! Love You!
You love fruit! And when it's so warm and nice out strawberries, blueberries, and grapes just sound too good. So this is your yummy red Strawberry snack face. :) You enjoyed them while we went for a walk in the great warm sun!
This picture just melts my heart! i love it! You look so grown up and big! And have some of your favorites ... :) You love your ball hat when playing outside, carry the football (even indoors) and i LOVE the mom's little man shirt. Cuz you SO are!!! Love YOU!
Well it finally came time .... time to CUT YOUR HAIR! Can you believe it?!?!? I thought the day would never come!!! But alas, it arrived!! :) We were taking spring pics this month, so the day before we decided it was time. It wasn't much, but enough to def. make you look older and "grown up". You did excellent too. We set you on a towel in the kitchen with a lot of combs and brushes and let you play with them and help me. :) Didn't take long at all ... and no tears. :) What a relief that was. I was so proud to be able to do it myself!! All the training and years of school were totally worth it to be able to do that for you!! :D

Getting ready with momma! :)
Helping me comb and section
You found a toothbrush that kept you occupied for a while. It was a new one mixed in with the other brushes and combs. Spraying your hair...
Almost done...
Another fun adventure we took was just this past weekend. It was turning colder and kinda so-so weather but Dad & I wanted to get out of the house and treat you. So we took you to Plainwell Ice Cream - it's only the BEST place for ice cream cones!!! :) And you had your first cone (which you shared with momma) and loved it!
Looking at all the yummy flavors...
We settled on a Blue Moon/Cotton Candy mix - perfect for the first cone!!
you REALLY enjoyed it!
You liked sitting next to Dad and eating it too.
Tummy full of yummy ice cream... ready to go back home!
This past month has been so fun to watch you learn even more and begin to understand things we say and do. You follow directions so well. Even 2 or 3 step directions! It's incredible. :)
You've moved on from Monster's Inc. and are now onto Cars as your favorite movie. :) Altho I feel the timing for that is almost thru as well. You also LOVE Curious George. You call him Georgie. It's very cute. We have to go to the library for those videos tho. And you know when it's time too ... library trips are another very fun trip we will do lots of this summer. Even more then we do now.
You still bring your blankie everywhere and Nanny is in the process of making a new replacement for it. Cuz heaven knows we'll need one. And probably sooner then later.
We are working on breaking you from your paci. It's turning into more of a hassle then i thought. Every time we get close we go on a trip (NJ), or you get more teeth, or you get sick. So i think that may end up being a cold turkey thing or only night time "treat".
You're vocab is growing and your chitter chatter has grown a lot. You'll walk around the house just babbling away, and there'll only be a few "real" words in it that i know but it's like you're really telling me something good. So i chime in when i need to and keep the conversation alive. :) It's so fuN! And hooray for being able to say ZuZu now!!! It's taken a few months but we are slowly converting "OgOg" to ZuZu!!!! :) And we are both excited about that!!!
OH and i almost forgot to share your Easter/Spring photos from the shoot we did at work. They turned out way better then i thought they would, mainly cuz you were an active model and really wouldn't do what i wanted or hoped. But they still look adorable!! :) For doing so well for momma - i rewarded you with your first sucker! and you enjoyed it ... like anything sugary. haha
Happy Easter
YUM! suckers!
A good little sharer ... sharing with "Georgie" :) Love this one!
Well one more thing ... we had your 18 mth. check up this week!!! Can you believe that!! 18 months!! WOWzers! A whole year and half old. Craziness!! You weighed in perfect at almost 30lbs. (29lbs 4oz) and were 35 inches tall!! Dad was amazed you were almost to 3 ft. tall already. Such a strong, big growing boy!
Well i think that's all i can fit for now... there's more we are working on. But once we have more detail I'll share more. But it doesn't look like we'll be in MI for as long as I had hoped for. But God's plan is much better then any plan of life I could come up with. So we are trusting in His promises and provisions to get us thru! :)
Love You LOTS!!!
