{Medical Updates}
As we start the second month of this new year, I wanted to take a few moments to update everyone on our medical situations. Seems like 2019 is going to be the year of the doctors in our household, or will at least begin with seeing various kinds of them.
We will begin at the top of the chain and work our way down...
Tim - had to have an emergency dental appt. at the start of the month and was informed of some bad cavities that would need to be filled asap. This week he went in for those fillings, and is feeling much better! It does look as tho he has some more, so we are are figuring our finances for those visits and procedures.
Myself - As many of you know, I have been diagnosed with SVT and PVC's. SVT is a form of...ya know what I'll let you click on the link and have Wikipedia explain that for me! Trust me, it'll be easier. PVC's are irregular heartbeats that don't really stick around, they just pop in and out and make me feel odd when it happens. Nothing too severe, or at least that's the thought right now.
The electrologist saw some interesting types of PVC and before moving forward in the ablation procedure for the SVT wants to have an MRI done to rule out the very small chance of a congenital heart defect. He said the types of PVC's he saw on my monitor are similar to ones he sees in congenital defects where folks could go into cardiac arrest, so he is taking every precaution and taking it very serious before moving forward with a procedure. We thanked him and I am now scheduled for an MRI on Valentine's day. (How fitting... getting a picture of my heart on valentines. ha) Anywho... he's 99% sure it'll come back clear and we will then move forward with the SVT procedure called an ablation. It's a fairly common method for curing SVT, but I am still a bit freaked out by it. Prayers are appreciated for both the MRI (small spaces kinda freak me out and I am praying for sleep to come upon me and for my mind not to panic) and for the future process to fix my heart.
M- We've had a few set backs with our oldest. Most know, but he was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder when he was 4. He's made leaps and bounds from where he was four years ago, some of that just comes with age, but we also had some help from OT. Well in the last 4-6 months we've seen and experienced some regression with him. We contacted our amazing new pediatrician and she was so incredible with him and us. We kinda made a game plan and she referred us onto a behavioral pediatricians office in town, however it can takes to even get a call back and a few months to get any answers - but we are moving forward and taking baby steps to make sure we are getting the help for him and for us as we parent M. In the meantime, while we wait, she gave us some pretty awesome resources that we will be reading and working through together as a team. Please keep M and us in your prayers as we strive to provide the help and find answers. Like anyone we have good and bad days, but knowing we are surround in prayers can turn a bad day around quick.
T- We had his 6 year check up this past week and I am still in awe that he is SIX! Seriously, I keep asking him to stop growing. ;) But he's growing big and strong and has a tender heart that loves people something fierce, so I think we are pretty darn lucky to have him. While at his check up we did some paperwork and chatted with our amazing pediatrician about some difficulties we've noticed and that were brought to our attention. After some time and "tests" we've been told he is ADHD and we are looking into the next steps with him as well. Most likely it'll be some form of behavioral therapy and some help for us on how to help him, among some reading up for us on how to best help him now and in the future. We are SO thankful for our great team of care at our peds office. They really go above and beyond and we LOVE the office so much.
N - Nothing too major with this girl. She's been complaining pretty regularly of headaches and seems to have to stand close or pull up to things to really see well so we have an eye appt for her next week. She is truly hoping she needs glasses because she wants to be like her big brothers and her parents. ;) Other then that and a little fever bug she caught this last week, our little girl is growing prettier inside and out every day and really enjoys playing and learning with "her boys", as she calls them.
E - Oh our little one! This kid has got spunk and keeps up with his older siblings pretty darn well. His 2.5 year check up was today and he's grown an INCH since July!!! Holy Moly - no wonder none of his pants are long enough now!!! Good thing summer is coming and we can get shorts out soon. Ha! This kid still kinda a wild card right now. After his appt and check up we are moving forward with a few screenings to help us determine where is at right now. Both our great doc and ourselves see things that could easily be related to sensory, autism, OCD, etc. - and due to our future of moving across seas soon, we are referring him, along with M, to the behavioral pediatrician as M. It could be nothing, but we wanted to get help if we need it before we leave for the UK.
So there it all is...
It's a lot right now. We certainly have a lot to pray about and trust the Lord with, but I was reminded today that NONE of these things are surprising to God. When we were commissioned as missionaries, He already knew how the kids would grow and what my health looked like. I find peace in knowing that He knows all and is not set back or surprised by any of these diagnoses or tests - and all the answers we are seeking for, He already knows and has it all handled. I forget that often and tend to lean more to my worry wort side - but God gently reminds (okay, sometimes it's not so gentle...), that He is bigger and He cares and He knows. All He asks me to do is TRUST.
So we move forward in prayer, trusting His plan. We ask that you would continue to pray with us, for faith, for answers, for patience, for courage (specially inside an MRI machine), and for strength to keep on! Thanks.
