we began the month with a fun and spontaneous trip to
Mount Grace Priory with an awesome family!
Super thankful for new friends who are like family. |
October was filled with lots of pumpkins, baking, and outdoor time. Knowing the time change was quick on our heals, we tried to soak in as much as possible! We hosted a pumpkin party in the community garden. We were able to carve pumpkins with many kids from the neighborhood and enjoyed some much needed soup and caramel apple cider. We visited one of our favorite hiking spots. We made lots of homemade goodies - not all pumpkin flavored either. We also welcomed soup season with open mouths and have been enjoying soup every Sabbath with homemade bread, which has been a trial and ere process. haha but a yummy experiment none the less. We were also treated to very enjoyable day out to The Beamish Museum with an amazing couple and partners from our church. It was a great month and a great way to enter into autumn and the "dark season". We also got to watch the union of some great people in Scotland. While in Glasgow, we were also able to stay and spend time with another GEM family! It was a blast! We've also been enjoying game days each Sunday. Sometimes it's a long game, other times it's just a small round of cards, but we are enjoying the time together. And to end the month, we enjoyed a party at the mill lane community center - in which we played some fun games and decorated biscuits. Then we spent an hour at the superhero party at our local church. Definitely a fun Halloween for us all. Oh and the garden produced SO many tomatoes this year - SO MANY! We lost quit a lot to vandals, sadly, but still ended up with more then we could handle. So we tried a pasta recipe and have been giving tomatoes out constantly to our neighbors and folks around the garden.
