{23 - AUGUST}

August! Our month of freedom, exploration, holiday, retreat, refreshment, friendship, and learning.
We started the month in Germany, traveled to Paris, then back to England.
Our family enjoyed seeing classic and famous works of art, a picnic with paints by the Eiffel Tower, and late night conversations and video games with friends.
We saw real, beautiful growth in the community garden and began handing out the harvest to neighbors. We also started to prep for our autumn term. Planning out our routine and schedule, along with getting school things prepped.
I'll let the photos say the rest ... but August, you were the best!

my 10/2 girls from America.
They spent the summer with us in Mill Lane/Harty Rd.
and we LOVE them (and miss them) so much.

at the end of the month, just a few days from starting school I spent a day with God out in his creation.

loved the cooler air and feel, made me want to make bread!

can not wait to get through this with the fam this autumn

real corn folks! who would have imagined?

we missed our England family while on holiday and we couldn't wait to catch up with some of them!
This is us with some dear and close friends exploring a nearby castle.

enjoying our classic "meemaw" mac n cheese

we got home just in time to see the moors come alive in beautiful purple hues.

We are spending our first term learning about Artists

our last ice cream/dessert in Paris.

Napolean's dining room table.
I think I'd like that!

Napolean's apartment was stunning and impressive.
Everything was ladened with gold.

Our family day at the Louvre!

our special date night in Paris! What a blessed gift this was.

we got a tiny place like 3 blocks from the Eiffel tower
and enjoyed seeing the city, kid-free!

Tim's favorite painting

Our family at Versailles

Marie Antionette's farm - it was breathtaking and stunning.
I honestly, didn't want to leave.

my favorite painting. I've never been one who tears up or gets emotional over art,
but this canvas took my break away and made me tear up.
It really moved me. So thankful I got to see it in person.

Our amazing friends who blessed us with their hospitality and love for a week!
We LOVED being with them and seeing what their life in Paris looks like.
It was also so amusing to travel with 8 kids through the metro! :)

I can't believe I really got to see it!

it was everyone's dream to paint or draw the eiffel tower while sitting in front of it -
so that's exactly what we did.

food, friends, art, and the Eiffel Tower.
How is this real!?!? What a dream!

the shops and streets were so classic and beautiful

taking in the view

follow the leader ...

the line was SO long and the wait was over 1.5 hours to get in, so
we stood for a second and took it in through the windows.

still can't see much of it but it's still gorgeous

ready to explore!

just yum!

first stop in Paris - the bakery.
For real bread. :)

Frankfurt Zoo was incredible

we saw 2 baby tigers, a few small, baby monkeys, and lots of penguins,
just to name a few

our kids ROCK at travel.
It's not always pretty, but they are real troopers.
