You Two Boys
Wow it's been quit a while and LOTS has happen since the last post. Sorry about that. Between packing, unpacking, multiple road trips, and settling into a new house and town, trying to keep two blogs up to date and active is quit hard. So if you want an update on all that's happened in between check out our family blog for ministry - click here. I was using this blog more of a blog for the kids to read, eventually, and keep a record of what we do as a family.
So with that said, I'll do a very brief and not too detailed update ...
We made it our new home in North Carolina (or as Milo would say "Carolina"). Things are unpacked and we're settling in nicely & definitely enjoying the southern sunshine and weather! And from there i'll just jump right in ---- starting with Milo Man.
We started potty training this week!! Yikes! At first it was scary & some what discouraging. It didn't seem like anything we did would help you do anything in the potty. But then we let a day and half go by and things starting clicking. You stayed dry thru naps and tried to make it to the potty. And so far today has been the best day yet!!! Doing #2 is another story, but we at least have ya going pee. When the "job" is done, you get a sticker to add to our cool chart, 3 M&M's, and a special treat. (altho i'm thinking the special treat is going to be nixed soon ... you're catching on to that one. haha) You sit at the table "like a big boy", as you say. No high chair. You passed that on to your brother. You eat with real silverware and have started drinking from a normal cup. (that's still a bit of a work ... you get a bit crazy at times with that one!) You still love anything tractors & firetrucks. Poppy and Grandpa are still 2 of your favorite people to talk about. Altho after our last visit with Uncle Jesse last week, he's working his way up there!! :) You're wearing 3T-4T clothes ... very tall for your age and you weigh around 34 lbs. Taking after your Dad and Uncles. Favorite foods are still sausage (which we have yet to find down here ... i'll have to start a search!) & yogurt. And you'll eat just about anything if it's dipped in Dill Dip or Ketchup. (shocker!) You still sleep with about every "friend" imaginable. Georgie, Lightening, mommy's teddy, Cow, Waddles, Sully, your precious moments kid, Georgie slippers, Evelyn's Monkey, your blankie, your tractor blanket and pillow, and another special blanket from Aunt Keryl. Yup I think that's all ... but i could be missing a few. You still love watching Curious George & Cars but since our move we've discovered we have PBS kids ... so you love watching Arther, SuperWhy?, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, and Elmo. Oh, a cuteness I love and will remember for years to come is your imaginary ball. You take it a lot of places with you. But this ball is special. This ball can be thrown inside or outside. You clean it, take to church with you, and even in the car! It's adorable. You had a breakdown one day because I asked you to do something (don't even remember what now) but you were afraid you'd have to leave your ball ... so you asked and I laughed to myself and let you "take the ball" with you. Ha! And one morning you were getting a bit crazy pretending to throw it around and catching it. I had to warn you that if you got to out of control and didn't settle it down a bit, I was going to have to take it away. Then I thought to myself ... "How do I take an imaginary ball away???" Oh the things you say and think as a momma. Needless to say, even on the tough days, this stage is so active and always an adventure. I love your creativity, thoughtfulness, and mimicking of what we do. You adore your family and always want to be with us ... it's the days I will always cherish.
Now to Theo ... Oh Theo. It's been 3 months already, and I have no idea how 3 months has slipped by so fast already. At 3 months your weighing in around 15 lbs. You're in 3 month clothing - altho you're toes tend to curl if you really stretch out ... and if you're in cloth diaper you could probably stand to be in 3-6 mth clothes. Those cloth diapers add a few pounds. You LOVE to suck on your fists and have yet to really find your thumb or finger. You'll take a paci most of the time but have times when you just wanna be left alone. Sleeping with a blankie is a MUST. We have three we rotate thru. We're still working with your reflux, altho it is getting much better. Not as many days are as spitty. It comes in waves. We'll have a few days of great, no spit, one outfit and then just like that - switch to so much that I have to do laundry at the end of the day so you have things to wear again the next. But you don't seem to mind it much. Still have smiles on your face as you return whatever we just fed you.
You're starting to really "talk" ... so much so it's hard to have any other conversation because, well, you're a screecher. I have a feeling we'll have to work with you on that one. You love to just let the screams fly. You do a pretty good job sleeping. Letting me get a good solid 4 (sometimes 5) hours straight. We're transitioning you to your crib these past days and coming weeks ... so sleep has been interrupted a bit due to you getting use to it. But you do a wonderful job going to sleep on your own during the day when we lay you down for nap. There's a way it has to be done for you to be happy but it works, so I'll go with it. Blankie by head and hand, "socks" the monkey snuggled close to you, and rest of blankie wrapped around you. Sometimes you like to be angled on your side and other times on your back. Altho more times then not you love to be on your side! We started setting you up in the highchair last month, and you seem to love that. You get to see all that's going on around you and you especially love being able to watch your brother. You can't get enough of him. He's so active that he's built in entertainment for you. And as long as he's not too loud or doesn't throw toys on you (he really is trying to share ...) you enjoy every second of watching him. You've even grown to like "watching" some of his shows with him. And love it when he talks with you. I'm sure you'll have learned more about tractors and firetrucks by the time you're two then most people know in a life time. You're just such a wonderful laid back kiddo. Content in almost any circumstance. The only thing that really gets you upset is if you haven't seen or hear d mommy in a while. You're a bit of a momma's kid right now. Gotta have me around and be able to see me most of the time to not get too upset. You're pretty good for daddy and grandparents when they're around, but you still just like to have momma right there with you. The pediatrician back in MI told us that you'd probably be ready for solid foods by 4-5 months so that's something to look forward too. I'm sure you'll love that!! Oh and thankfully this nice warm, spring like weather has really helped your skin. You still have dry spots on your face, and still scratch yourself if you get out of your mittens at night, but your cradle cap and funky crackled hands are getting back to "normal". We have a whole lotion routine at night after bath ... I call it "greasing you up". :) But whatever helps.
Well that's about it for now. I could go on for hours talking about all you boys do, together and apart. But most of all I love how you guys already love one another. The first thing Theo does when he wakes up is smiles when he hears or sees Milo and Milo loves to be a helper and "play" with his little brother. I just marvel at the closeness there already is between the two of you and look forward to many fun memories that are to come!!
