Us ... in a nutshell
Since it's been so long and everyone has grown so much, I want to update on how and where each kid is at. Along with a few fun family updates. It'll probably be a longer post, but what the hey! It should be done.
So lets begin with the main frame... Mom and Dad, Tim and Dani, lovebirds that started this beautiful mess. We are in our 7th year of marriage and looking forward to celebrating our 8th this summer! Whoa, where did time go?! Overall not much has changed with us. Tim got new glasses and keeps a pretty respected beard now a days and I still deal with the dilemma of long or short hair... it changes frequently. Tim has been working for the Gospel Mission now for a little over a year, and has a nice office. I am pretty much a full time stay at home, homeschooling, soccer mom. I still second shoot weddings with the awesome Melissa Gregersen on the weekends, but last fall stopped my weekly fun at the studios so I could home school and be with the kiddos. It was a hard change, I miss my days of chit chat and photoshop, but know it has been super beneficial for our family, although one income has been a bit of a leap of faith, but a great one! We are enjoying our involvement with CityGate in Portage and look forward to where God is taking our family and how He has worked in us to bring us closer to His will.
Guess that brings us to our Milo Man. We started kindergarten this year and have throughly enjoyed it. It's been such a joy to watch him learn and joy right before my own eyes. His handwriting has grown to become readable and he's learning to read small words like pig, cat, map, dog, etc. He loves arts and crafts and will spend hours building with his Legos. He's become quit a big fan of Star Wars in the last few months and asks many questions about the characters and backgrounds. He still LOVES John Deere and farming, space and going to moon, and has even added zoo keeping to his list of future jobs. His imagination is always going and always has a story to tell ya. He loves church and all his church pals, and also loves to tell people about Jesus. I just love his little, tender, missionary heart. Also some fun and great news, his eyes have really seen improvement since his surgery (Dec. 2014) and he's been in the same glasses for quit some time now.
We had some questions and concerns last summer that lead us to some testing for him. He was diagnosed with sensory processing disorder. It is a low functioning form and isn't crippling in any way, but coupled with some tendencies he already has, his autism test came back border line. So we were recommended to a occupational therapy program thru Bronson. We began the program in September with school and went once a week. We were quit impressed with the workers and the patience our provider, Mr. Kyle, gave to Milo. It was an incredible place. They not only helped the kids, but helped us parents with tips and exercises we did at home and still do today. Within a few months Milo was showing remarkable progress and we felt more capable of knowing how to help him at home. By December he was graduating from the program with fly colors!! We were so proud and Mr Kyle was super excited for his quick progress. We still have tough days but compared to last year, Milo's made some huge leaps and bounds. We are so grateful.
Now we move to our silly and joy filled Theodore. Oh Theo. What a little man full of personality. This little guy is something else. He always makes us laugh with the silly things he says and his extremely animated facial expressions. He is a boy that loves dirt, bugs, slap stick humor and doing anything with his older brother. He, too, is into Star Wars and keeps just as much information locked up in his little mind about the galaxies afar. His talking has really come a long way, I thought the poor kid would never talk! Still has a little lisp and has sentences that we can't quit understand, but overall it's audible and cute. He's laid back and goes with the flow (most of the time). Theo is great at playing solo or with others, although his favorite places to play are outside in the mud or with his legos and brother. We also have to be careful about his media time... he'd sit all day in front of our TV or computers watching PBS kids or old disney movies. ha! He loves pizza, muffins and hot dogs and is a very affectionate little mister. He always is telling us he loves us and giving us hugs and kisses. It's heart warming to hear, "Hey mom ... I love you!!" So sweet. I hope it never goes away. He also has quit an obsession with shoes and more particular his rain boots. Seems like he always has a pair on. At one point it was hard to get them off for baths and bedtime. His signature "hawk" isn't so popular anymore, but he likes to keep an "uncle craig" when it's hair cutting time. We had him tested again at the allergist this past summer and he's still allergic to eggs and peanuts, and we stay clear of tree nuts, milk, and soy although those are a bit more of a sensitivity.
And that brings us too our sassy, sweet Reenie Bean or Norma Irene. She's 20 months old now and acts like she's ten! Her talking has sped up quit a bit in the last few months as well. With understandable words and small phrases. She has a bit of spunk in her and thinks she needs to keep up with her older brothers at all times. She's a little mom most of the time too, taking time to bring them things she thinks they need or trying to help us out in the kitchen or laundry room. If she sees momma do it, she must learn to do it too! She has a favorite baby doll, a bunny and bear she usually keeps close and of course has her blankie and paci still because she's a Keith kid. Our kids seem to really love pacis and have one particular blanket that can't be replaced. She loves mac n cheese, cereal, and fruit. If given a choice between something fried and fresh fruit or veggies, she picks the fresh food every time!! (Can she really be mine kid?!!? ha!) I'm sure she'll have me eating salads by the time she's 7. She loves pink and sparkles and if combined into a shoe would be the greatest thing on earth. Even if she's staying inside, this girl loves playing in and having shoes on. Hers or ours. Norma is quit the little monkey and has very little fear. We have already had to put her in a toddler bed and begin the training that that entails. But it's better then having her fall out on her head all the time!! She gives us a heart attack with how she scales things and jumps off things. We love watching her relationship with her brothers grow deeper. My
favorite is to hear her shout, "Boys!" across the house to find them or
follow them. Seriously cute. Norma also loves dancing with her daddy, or
doing anything with Daddy, really. She's quit the daddy's girl.
Well I think the catches us up on the kids. We still have our
furry friend, ZuZu girl. She's as loyal as ever and is a great "Nana" to
the kids. Always has a watchful eye out and is near the chaos at all
times. She's seven now and has had some problems with her back leg this
past fall and winter. She torn her ACL and by the looks of her xrays it
wasn't the first time. She has quit the build up of arthritis present
and has to keep a low demeanor and not get to crazy on her hind legs.
The cold or lying on hard surfaces for too long make it worse but she's
coping pretty well. We are hoping that walking around the new
neighborhood this spring and fall will help her.
Well I think hat does it for now. I'll have to do another update on our move and all the fun life events. Excited to keep this blog moving! Life certainly gets away too quickly and I want to remember the fun, silly, and every day moments.
