{Welcome 2017!}
Well we made it to another year! Happy New Year! And as tradition we spent New years morning reading through our memories from the year before. However this year was a bit scarce after August. I'll add in a few off my head, but I really lost track of life and keeping the memory jar full for the fall and early winter. Oops! I'll try to be better this year and get our whole year in. ha!
But here's what we read, and in no particular order...
- June 2nd, milo's last soccer game in plainwell
- April 6th, 100 day for schooL! Party with grandparents, grand poppy, and aunt nicole!
- April 13 - ENT appt. for Norma and appt made for tubes
- August 12th, girl's movie night at Becky's
- Evening bike rides with daddy to the park and around the neighborhood
- Jan. 13th, had a 31 party and kids went next door with Dad while i enjoyed a girl's night in
- May 4th, late night playing Settlers with the Curtis'
- Aug. 26, Yankee Springs hiking with the Light family
- Nov 20, went to Ford Field for Lions game (date day) - our christmas gift from Nanny and Poppy
- March 7, late night girl's night out at Main St. in portage with the launch team gals
- Jan 8, 16 week appt. heard heartbeat (sweet, sweet sound)
- June 3, last day of kindergarten for Milo!!
- Aug. 13, Anniversary party at the Fire Station with Poppy (water hoses, cake, rides, dress up)
- April 24, finally got our dishwasher in! and we had a fish fry with Poppy and Nanny
- Aug. 2, dinner with the Gilfillan Fam :)
- Aug. 9th, water day at Aunt Tressa's with popsicles and lots of sunscreen
-Oct. 15-23, GEM Candidate Orientation in CO, stayed with Craig and Cassie, met new friends, and had a lot of good conversation one on one
- Aug. 28, Preview Service for CityGate!!!
- Feb. 2, Superbowl Sunday... picked Tim up from chicago after his Greece trip, and watched the Denver Broncos WIN (Manning's final game!)
- Feb. 19th, last pizza movie night in our farm home before move
- got my rings resized in Feb. so I can wear them again!
- Jan. 1, family pizza night with movie (LOVE our family nights)
- July 6th, 2016 ... Edwin's Birthday!!! water broke on the 5th around 9:30pm, up and down all night with contractions, went to weekly check up in morning, fluid test came back positive, 12:30 arrived back at hospital, 1:30 all checked in and "tagged", 2:30 started strep meds, 5pm finished breaking water and contractions hit hard and strong, 7:08pm Edwin Bernard was born! 9lbs. 9oz. 22 in. tall
- March 10, open house @ Oakland Acd. - praying about 1st grade
- March 20, lunch and afternoon with Curtis fam
- Nov 24, Thanksgiving at our place! A full day of family, friends, food and fun! wouldn't have it any other way
- May 19, morning play @ Nanny's with Allie and Andrew, said our goodbyes to the Curtis fam and enjoyed our evening of soccer with cousins
- Feb 15, ultrasound for "firecracker", strong profile, healthy report - IT's A BOY!
- July3, dinner and cookout with Bishops accompanied with false alarm from Eddie
- Aug 27, Air Zoo morning, saw R2D2, rode rides, played popnology games and enjoyed the space exhibit
- week of March 14- Grandma Austin and Aunt Mary both were sent to hospital and both passed away within a day of one another. It was a hard, sad, and trying week for whole family. Lots of prayers and lots of family time.
- July 6-11, Jes, Deb and kids in town! Got to see Eddie brand new, had a whole family dinner at mom's on the 10th
- Aug 22, first day of school for Milo (1st) and Theo (preK)
- July and August spent a lot of time @ CityGate renovating building with the team
- Memorial Day weekend (May 28-30), cousin time with ALL cousins, tractor wagon rides, Mr Andrew's quick visit and campout with us, smores, pizza, and grill out, late nights, tenting, everyone in the tent with Daddy and Papa, CityGate at NB Sunday morning, and parade Monday morning with everyone
- Sept 1, dinner with Jason! met his girlfriend too!! <3
- June 12, (full term) family day! bought new nets took them to the frog park, spent morning catching and releasing frogs, milo and i fished off dock with Poppy and Nanny, had a cookout and bonfire in the evening
- July 2, surprised Grand Poppy with balloons, soda and pictures
- March 25, afternoon outside playing in mud and picking flowers, dad's first bike ride with new trailer, had pizza and movie night
- June 10, Summer Kickoff Party with the Bishops, no naps, spent the entire afternoon outdoors with water fights, water balloons, sprinklers, etc., had pizza for dinner, theo dozed off during supper, it was a HOT day (over 90) and everyone went to bed early.
- May 3, spontaneous trip to the Celery Flats, frog hunting, tadpole watching, park playing and picnic w/dad for dinner
- March 26, CityGate's first easter service 6pm, 4 baptisms, over 80 people and got to use real sanctuary
- March 11, pizza night with Steve and Mic, late night of fun playing
- June 9th, Norma's 2nd Bday! dinner with grandparents, and an evening outdoors playing with them
- March 19, CityGate dinner after service with new friends at Theo and Stacy's :)
- July 4, family morning together, Aunt Betty's for the afternoon, and our own fireworks in the front yard.
- May 17, spent evening @ triage for contractions, took pills to slow, IV for hydration, and low activity issued
- April 29, first GEM skype date with the UK
- March 4, date night to GR to meet Greece group but called home early (theo was homesick for mom and dad)
- Jan 28-Feb7, Tim's trip to Greece to work on Lesvos, hard 10 days for myself, lots of anxiety, kids sickness, called grandparents for help a lot (SUPER thankful for them), finalized our new home in Portage and began packing home, kids got better at end of time
- Easter Sunday, (3-27), All grandparents over, egg hunt, roast, sunshine, walks and bike rides around neighborhood, and morning at Milham Park feeding ducks and swinging
- June 5, cookout with Tim's co-worker (Ryan) and family, grilled out, bonfire with smores, and new friends made!
- June 7, Celery Flats for picnic dinner and frog catching, Bishop's joined for frog fun
- Feb 21, Aurora's bday party in the evening, cousin play, princess/prince theme, pizza, and pinata
- March 29, worked at studio helping organize &, decorate the new space, miss my days there with melissa
- June 11, last church night @ Milwood's building and late night hose off and water war with kids before bed
- Aug 5, GEM meet up with Suzy from REFUGE & date night on the patio at Olde Penisula
- May 20, evening family time with Cassie, kids, and A&K, with pizza and bonfire, and milo spent night with Nadia
- Spring Sundays 9:30-11:30 @ Sniders home, lunch afterwards, fun talk and kids loved playing
- March 2, afternoon with Aunt Amanda, Owen and Micah and dinner with all of them plus A&K
- Aug 1, Eight Wonderful years, spent the day at the beach as a family complete with Sherman's
- May 8, Mother's day, waffles, naps, got fire pit, transplanted garden, grilled out/picnic with Bishops
- May 10, Norma's surgery, fast, great staff, recovered quickly, spent afternoon watching Belle and couldn't wait for her boys to come home
-Sept 10, soccer in Portage began, Dad is coach!
- July 14, bday dinner with mom and dad = FISH FRY!
- May 27, living room campout and bonfire with smores, a low key family evening before the big campout at MeeMaws
- Aug. 18, water afternoon with Bishops followed by grill out to end summer
- April 3, got our garden started, and went to GR kids museum! super fun time
- Feb 4-6, spent at Scott and Amandas new place, kids all played well together, good food, late night adult conversations, and kids enjoyed uncle scott fun
- Nov 27, Gilmore Girl party at Tanya McClures! Girls night for sure!
- May 6-7, a campout at A&K's with just us, went to creek to explore frogs, slept in tent with dad and papa, bonfire with smores, pretty country sunset and lilacs to bring home
- June 4, Norma's Princess Bday Party
-Feb 17&18, Cleaned new place, took some boxes over, got kitchen set up, finished packing farmhouse
-Sept 17, high tea with Nanny (it was a girl's event for Norma, mom, and nanny)
- Feb 20, move day! lots of help, kids went to Bishops to play while we moved boxes and got things set up, dinner with grandpoppy and poppy and nanny
- Jan 15-17, wkend @ Craig and Cassie's, nerf wars, late night games, nice weather and fun games with kids
- Early May, Frog Unit (a favorite of ours now), observed tadpoles & frogs at Celery Flats a lot, and enjoyed lots of evenings and afternoons playing and eating there
- June 28, dinner with Potts'fam
- Dec 2, KGM christmas dinner with Tim
- Aug 20, STAR WARS bday party for boys
- Feb 19, CityGate gal's night @ Beckys, with tacos, desserts, and games
- April 1, Tim's bday! cake for breakfast, McD's to play, and pet store to explore, followed by evening Date with Brent and Michelle with dessert at GTP, pie rewards and Monopoly!
- Sept 18, CityGate Launch Service!!!
- Dec 17-19, Keith family Christmas @ Gull Lake, one big house that was amazing, lots of room, nerf wars, sledding, food, late nights, gift exchanges, and everyone under one roof
Well that's all the memories I had in the jar. haha but we sure made some wonderful ones through this last year!! I just love the little traditions we have made and make each year. Looking back it was a year of ups and downs but it was a year of learning for myself. And I am looking forward to all that this new year will hold for us.
In just a few short weeks we leave for a vision trip to England, in Feb we move back to our old farm house to save money and begin fundraising, and this summer we look to travel a bit to keep fundraising.
I'll end with what this year began with!! Our baby dedication on New Years Day. We went star wars themed, of course! but had a wonderful day celebrating our newest arrow!
